Felt fabric is made of wool, durable when it’s dry. However, it becomes very vulnerable when wet and needs special care during cleaning to avoid damage.
If the issue is food crumbs, dirt, mud, or other non-staining spillages, allow it to dry before proceeding. If you suspect the spillage will cause a stain, immediately clean the spot and hand wash. The stains must be addressed promptly for successful removal from felt.
Once the stain is dry, you can use brush the debris away, especially if the issue is minor. Use a soft-bristled brush to brush away any stubborn debris gently.
Persistent lint and hair can be removed by patting with the sticky side of tape (i.e. masking tape) over the surface of the felt, then pulling it off.
Please avoid air-dry or overexposure to direct sunlight because this can damage the fabric.
