Jute fabric is a textile fiber made from the jute plant, and it is biodegradable.
Use a soft brush and a dab of water to clean spills on a jute carpet or placemats promptly. Once a spill is set, it may become a stain and difficult to remove.
Clean liquid spills on a jute product by blotting. Always avoid rubbing the spills. Spills of acidic products, such as red wine or tomato sauce, can be neutralized by club soda.
Dry any wet spills with a hair dryer or fan.
Vacuum jute rugs twice a week to prevent dirt from accumulating in the jute fibers—vacuum both sides of the rug and the floor underneath.
Scrape out any solid spills on jute products with a dull knife, brush with a stiff brush, followed by vacuuming.

If jute fabrics need to be cleaned, make sure you do it by hand in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent. Remember jute textiles are fragile. After wash, jute fabric products should be air-dried or line dried in an area that is not directly exposed to sunlight

For Jute Rugs
Clip loose fibers, which are called sprouts, instead of pulling them.
Exposure to direct sunlight will cause the jute rug to fade, so avoid it.
Avoid placing your rug in moist environments like bathrooms.
Rotate your rug regularly to promote even wearing of the surface.
